Since the publication of her third book, The Twenty-First Century Board, Ann-Maree Moodie has established her reputation as a specialist in boardroom dynamics and communication. In addition to leading a team of corporate governance and communications specialists at The Boardroom Consulting Group, Ann-Maree consults personally to some of Australia's foremost business leaders on strategic communications issues in the boardroom.

Ann-Maree Moodie is a leading figure in corporate governance in Australia, and is a well-known management educator, professional speaker and opinion columnist.

Following a successful career as an award-winning journalist and author, Ann-Maree established The Boardroom Consulting Group Pty Ltd in response to the growing demand for her expertise as a boardroom communications expert.

An accomplished author, her books are: The Twenty First Century Board: Selection, Performance and Succession, Local Heroes: A Celebration of Success and Leadership in Australia and Small Poppies: Profiles of Australian Small Business.

Her extensive list of publications also includes Changing Behaviours: A Survey on Education and Training for Australian board members (published by KPMG) and a 20,000-word 'corporate thriller' for CCH Directors' Education Package. Her articles appear in CFO Magazine, Management Today, Keeping Good Companies and AICD Alumni Magazine. She has also written a crime novel, Goodnight Sweetheart.

In her career as a management lecturer, Ann-Maree Moodie teaches corporate governance, corporate communication, organisational behaviour and crisis management at MGSM, SGSM and UTS.

She devised and developed the new MGSM elective, The Education of Man, and writes and presents philosophical dialogues for Professor Robert Spillane's annual philosophy lecture series, 'The Mind's Eye,' at the Art Gallery of NSW.

A dedicated educator and student, Ann-Maree Moodie is a PhD student at MGSM where she is completing her doctoral thesis on independence and conformity in the boardroom.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Journalism and Japanese. Her undergraduate thesis, 'Tell 'em the Sheilas Wear Sarongs: A History of Australian Newspaper Correspondence from Japan', earned a High Distinction. She also holds a Company Directors' Course Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is studying for her Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance.

Ann-Maree is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is an Affiliate of Chartered Secretaries Australia. Her memberships include the Graduate Management Association of Australia and the Australian Society of Authors.

Outside her professional life, Ann-Maree pursues her passion for European style and culture, and is especially influenced by French and Italian languages, history, literature, philosophy and architecture. A voracious reader, and a lover of opera, theatre, classical music and cinema, she shares these interests with her close circle of friends. Ann-Maree divides her time between her house on Pittwater on Sydney's Northern Beaches, where she lives with her husband, stepson and baby daughter, and her cottage in Leura in the Blue Mountains. Her family life is warmed by the splendid chaos of living with three cats - 13-year-old moggies, Tetley and Marilyn, and Birman kitten, Claude-Michel.

In her role as Editor of The Boardroom Consulting Group's publications, Julia Owens combines her expertise as a publisher and corporate communications specialist with her broad international experience working in industries as diverse as law, venture capital, insurance and advertising. Julia is also a facilitator for the some of The Boardroom Consulting Group's workshops.

Crisis Containment Practice Leader

As the name synonymous with resolving the Sydney Olympic Ticket Home Delivery Crisis and the Sydney Hailstorm Crisis, John Purdie-Smith is the Leader of our Crisis Containment Practice. John works with our Managing Director, Ann-Maree Moodie, to educate boards of directors and senior executive teams about how to contain and manage a communications crisis.

Professor Michael Adams

Michael specialises in corporate law, financial services regulation and corporate governance. He is the author of five books, more than 20 academic journal articles and 120 conference presentations. Professor of Corporate Law at University of Technology, Sydney, and former President of Chartered Secretaries Australia, Michael is also a consultant to law firm, Blake Dawson Waldron. He will be appointed Dean of Law at the University of Western Sydney commencing February, 2007. Michael is a consultant to Strategic Intent, Governance Review and to our Crisis Containment Practice.

John O'Grady

John O'Grady

LLB., FAICD

A commercial law practitioner, specialising in finance, corporate law and governance, John O'Grady is an experienced Board director and lectures in the AICD Company Directors' Course on Directors' Duties. He is a Partner with Cosoff Cudmore Knox. John is also a member of the National Law Committee of the AICD. He is a consultant to Strategic Intent, Governance Review and to our Crisis Containment Practice.

Harold Ainsworth

Implementing and executing strategy is a core role of a board. Harold Ainsworth combines his expertise in program management and experience in project management in the Asia/Pacific region to educate boards of directors in the planning and execution of strategic plans. Harold is a presenter for our Strategic Intent board/executive strategic planning sessions.

Renaissance man Stuart Cameron is a well-known broadcaster, technologist, entrepreneur and founder of The Future Group. He combines his deep understanding of the art and science of communication with his experience of emerging businesses in the biotechnology and information technology industries. Stuart is a consultant to Strategic Intent and our Media Training Practice.

With 20 years' experience in capital markets and corporate finance in Australia, the United Kingdom and Singapore, Frank Bush also works as company secretary, (serving with Top 50 ASX companies for 12 years), corporate governance consultant and management educator. He is a consultant to Governance Review and Strategic Intent.

A man of characters, Rodney Marks is a satirical, sartorial self-inventor whose comedic corporate characters befuddle, bemuse and beguile audiences. Rodney is a consultant to our Media Training Practice and to our Hypothetical Workshops.

Steven Segal

A management educator, registered psychologist and executive coach, Dr Steven Segal lectures in managerial psychology, philosophy and organisational behaviour in South Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. He is the author of Business Feel: From the Science of Management to the Philosophy of Leadership, (PalgraveMacmillin, 2004) and is regularly published in international journals. Dr Segal is a consultant to our Boardroom Relations mentoring team.

Brian Williamson

A specialist solicitor in workplace law for much of his career, Brian Williamson provides strategic advice to boards and executive teams on a range of workplace issues, including OH&S. He is also a director of The Spastic Centre of NSW. Brian is a consultant to Strategic Intent, Governance Review and to our Crisis Containment Practice.
